Sighthound Link
This website aims to deal with the way in which Sighthounds are different from other dogs. Areas where they may need a bit more thought and consideration for their welfare and how they might come from backgrounds that differ from other dogs. It hopes to cover areas not usually dealt with in normal dog books.
Why are Sighthounds different?
Most Sighthounds have long thin bodies and short or very fine fur. They are designed to lose heat quickly after generating lots of heat through fast movement. This means that they are very sensitive to temperature, both hot and cold.
They are designed to chase prey by sight and run very fast. This can affect where you exercise them and what other pets they can be homed with.
They are very sensitive dogs being greatly affected by tone of voice, owner’s moods and outside surroundings.
